about us...

Eastbourne Allotments and Gardens Society is a not-for-profit organisation.  We are entirely self-funding so rely heavily on our trusted band of Committee Members, Trustees and other volunteers.

Peter Birchall

President

Peter has had a plot in Eastbourne for many years and is one of our longest-serving committee members.  Not only does he have a wealth of information on pests and weeds, but he's very knowledgeable on carnivorous plants.

John Dann

Chairman

Also our musically inclined blog master, John is always very keen to share music related trivia and courgettes!  Previously he has won best-kept allotment for his immaculate plot.

Meirion Roberts

Treasurer

A relative newby, Meirion has come on board as our treasurer.  Meirion is an avid allotmenteer and is always keen to enter our Summer Show, but just don't mention the onions!

Graham Hinchliffe

trustee

As a member of the Heritage Orchard, Graham is keen to ensure the older varieties of apple are not lost.  He can often be found on-site with his faithful dog at his side.

Sue Parsons

trustee

Sue has been a tenant and committee member for many years and currently has one of our raised beds with her prolific raspberries.

Steve Stewart

trustee

Steve is not only our newest trustees, but also looks after all our tech.  An invaluable member of the team!

Louise Elms

allotment manager

An allotment holder for over 15 years, Louise originally joined the team as admin assistant, taking over the post of manager in 2019.  When not in the office she can be found working her own plot.

Lucy Grotefeld

admin assistant

Passionate about animals and flowers, Lucy can often be found chatting with chickens and rabbiting away to, er....rabbits!  Her background in art means her beautiful plot is more of a garden than a traditional veg patch.

Our committee members are:

Kate Brookman, David Cooke, Paul Elvy, Jill Gorman, Janet Greenwood, David Jones, Alison King, John Nelson, James Owen, and Meirion Roberts.

If you are interested in joining our committee, remember to put forward your nomination before the AGM.  Check noticeboards for the announcement when forms can be collected from the office.

We also have a large group of volunteers who help with the shop, general maintenance, the website and much more.  We're always looking for new volunteers to help keep our allotments looking great.
