Manor Road

Manor Road allotments are accessed via a track opposite the end of Port Road.  There are three gates into the site to the right of the track.  The allotments to the left of the track are not run by EAGS.  To the rear of the site is grassland, trees and shrubs making it a great environment for wildlife.  The Kuhl’s Pipistrelle bat, although not native to the UK, has been detected on this site, and many other types of wildlife have been seen by tenants including grass snakes, lizards, and slow worms.

Facilities

The toilet is situated just inside the first gate into the site.

Soil type

Much of the surrounding low-lying area is marshland.  The soil parent material is alluvium: clay, silts, sand and gravel, with a soil texture of peaty clay.  Although fairly free-draining, this does cause some areas of the site to become waterlogged in very wet winters.

Parking

The main car park is accessed via the third gate but there are other areas available within the site.  Do not park on the site roadways.  Please be considerate to other site users when loading/unloading outside of your plot.

DANGER – Please be aware that there are drainage ditches running alongside the site.  Children must be monitored at all times.
